Chronic back pain is one of the most common and long-standing ailments that have afflicted more than 80 million Americans all across the country, whether in big cities or small areas like Bergen County. It doesn’t matter if you’re a manager of a multinational company or an average Joe, back pain can still find its way to you. Even the world’s finest athletes are not spared, like in the case of golfing icon Tiger Woods, who is trying to regain his old form after battling back problems.
“Forget about playing golf at the highest level. I couldn’t get out of bed,” Woods said. “I was certainly doubtful at that point. What’s it going to feel like? Am I going to be pain free? Am I going to be able to actually do this again, where I can to get out of bed, and go out there and play with my kids and play golf? All those things were up in the air.”
Woods said the doubt was erased after microdiscectomy surgery March 31. He said the procedure, which relieved pain from a pinched nerve, provided immediate relief, although he said there’s still “no timetable” for his return to golf — or even for taking a full swing. As of now, he remains limited to chipping and putting.
As the article from The Detroit News shares, the prolific golfer opted for surgery to put an end to his back pain miseries. This is okay, provided that you have the resources. A more important aspect to consider, though, is if surgery is necessary in the first place, or if a different approach for chronic back pain among Bergen County residents will suffice.
It should be noted that treating back pain is not a “one-size-fits-all” affair. What works for your friend, or in this case, Tiger Woods, may not automatically work for you. For a person suffering from chronic back pain, the best way of handling the situation is to let a professional take over, instead of dealing with the problem alone. A comprehensive examination is in order to determine the extent of the condition, as well as the right approach that needs to be taken.
Visiting reputable practices that specialize in alleviating chronic back pain for Ridgewood, NJ residents like MedWell Spine, OsteoArthritis & Neuropathy Center should be done. Generally, these practices offer a number of methods and treatments that do not involve going under the knife. Consulting medical experts will also translate in long-term savings, since you will certainly be assured that what you are spending for is what your condition calls for.
